Communication Sciences and Disorders (CS&D) is a field in which individuals study communication in relation to speech, language, hearing, and swallowing. The two main career paths are a speech language pathologist (SLP) and an audiologist (AuD). Both speech-language pathologists and audiologists can work in a variety of settings including schools, hospitals, and private clinics.
A speech-language pathologist (SLP) is an individual who works to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults (ASHA).

An audiologist (AuD) is a healthcare professional who provides patient-centered care in the prevention, identification, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment of hearing, balance, and other auditory disorders for people of all ages (ASHA).
